A Theme for the Year ~ 26 Jan 2019

Chinese New Year is around the calendar corner - Year of the Pig. For those planning to go whole hog this year, maybe establishing a theme would be a good idea. The Super Bowl is nearly upon us and the post game ceremony of that event signifies the official end to the era of obsessive playing with toys received from Santa and buckling down for the year ahead.

First though, another celestial notation. During the lunar eclipse this past week, an observer recorded a meteor impact on the Moon. It is within the realm of probability this sort of thing happens a lot. The Moon, with virtually no atmosphere, is vulnerable to such strikes. This particular impact happened to be observed and as such, signals a conscious impact, ping, alert, poke that sought to stir the subconscious in a powerful and an attention-grabbing manner. Heed the feelings. In those churning emotions and realized needs that surface, lies the source of motivation.

Let’s take a longer range look for purpose of establishing a theme for 2019. Later this year Jupiter crosses from his natural rulership transit through Sagittarius into Capricorn, ruled by Saturn. During 2020 Jupiter closes in on Saturn while in Capricorn. In May of 2020 when Jupiter stations to retreat retrograde, he’s oh so close to Saturn... five degrees. A conjunction by most aspect orb standards, but still not there yet.

In December of 2010 Jupiter in Capricorn again closes in on Saturn inching so very close. Close enough to whiff Saturn’s cologne. Close enough to experience Saturn’s energy through a distance so short Jupiter may be able to touch Saturn. But it is not until seven hours following the Solstice in December that Jupiter and Saturn osculate... and at that time both swim in the waters of Aquarius.

This conjunction in December 2020 stands out as a major mileage marker - personally and collectively. The year whose Gregorian number symbolizes perfect vision, is fraught with intense aspects involving Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto and Eris. If you think the news is too crazy to watch now, stand by - it will get weirder. Quoting Hunter S. Thompson: “When the going gets weird, the weird go pro.” Saturn and Capricorn hold a fondness for pros.

But here’s the thing. The Jupiter-Saturn conjunction consorting with a square to Eris marks the end of a chaotic and turbulent era initiated by the Uranus-Eris conjunctions of 2016. There’s an old axiom that opportunity hides in chaos. Jupiter rules expansion. Saturn rules contraction. Together these beautiful gaseous giants in the middle of our solar system perfectly symbolize the beating of a healthy heart. This conjunction represents an amazing balance between opportunistic pursuit that seems blind to obstacles, and the conservative, cautionary forces of life that urge careful progress.

Here’s a thought for Saturn’s transits in Capricorn and Aquarius. Saturn rules Capricorn. It’s a natural fit. He moves most slowly in Capricorn as he stands most distant from the Sun. Color this deliberate, painstaking, cautious and methodical. That’s quite cool. Saturn co-rules Aquarius. In classical astrology he ruled Aquarius - at least until that rabble-rousing Uranus came to our conscious attention. In terms of the physical demarcation lines of the zodiac - arbitrary though they might be - there is a twenty-degree overlap between Capricorn and Aquarius. Those who invoke change from within to without make great progress. Take heed campaigning politicians.

None of this baby with the bath water mentality. Keep what works, improve what does not. Download those pesky updates and install them.

Okay, so the celestial target that implies this whole shebang might work out after all is December 21, 2020. Too bad the Mayan Calendar didn’t end here. Regardless, all our efforts, personal and collective, target this date. Might as well start now.

Saturn in Capricorn epitomizes dedicated, hard work. Conscientious to a fault, he devotes every act to purposeful fulfillment of stated objectives. He admires excellence, competence, and will collaborate with anyone demonstrating shrewdness and skillfulness, especially if executed with a long range consciousness of consequence.

Presently Pluto also travels Capricorn, and Saturn, moving much faster than Pluto is closing the gap on a conjunction with the spectacular Pluto. This amazing dwarf planet is a grinder. He grinds on and on, evidently without complaint, focused on objectives that drive his soul in ways mortals can hardly imagine. From his vantage point at the edge of the solar system, he sees and knows things. Vast things. Things from a broader perspective - from where our solar system edges toward others. He gets the big picture and silently ushers consciousness toward what will be part of the ultimate realizations.

This year, Saturn’s zodiacal degrees close in on Pluto’s. Like Jupiter approaching Saturn, Saturn gets close to Pluto but does not precisely align. They stand close as April ends - about 3 degrees - but with retrogradation the conjunction is not fulfilled until 12 January 2020.

What does this mean to mortals making their way through matters mundane? First, it means don’t lock your objectives on calendar pages that presumably demarcate the passage of time. Apply flexible date markers. Actually, goals for this year would be better targeted for completion in December of 2020. However, an amazing point of accomplishment and satisfaction, can be measured in January of 2020 as Saturn and Pluto align.

Sure there’s a heap of slugging it out this year. It’s like making a movie. One day everything is amazing. Scenes are shot in one take. Cast and crew bubble with cheer and motivation. The next day someone burns the bagels, forgets to turn on the coffee pot and charge the batteries in the sound equipment. It happens. Still, every day, commitment to purpose remains intact. In fact, each day purpose refines. Everyday boxes on the to-do list can be ticked off. Stuff on lists can be crossed off. Tangible documentation is critical to conscious realization of goal completion. One day, after all the mundane craziness and emotional reactions it inspires (there is far more drama in making a movie than there is in the actual film), the film comes out. The collective objective is realized and the inspiration and awe of the creation fulfilled. Suddenly, it’s all worth it.

Here’s another timing tip. There is an anomalistic black hole complex, SS433, fixed at approximately 20 degrees of Capricorn. This is the neighborhood in which Pluto now travels and that Saturn will travel as we approach the equinox this year.

SS433 holds two curious biorhythm like built-in cycles. The longer one is 164 days. Half of this time 82 days, the system appears to be approaching. 82 days it appears to be receding. So for roughly 82 days press hard. Then, take 82 days to retreat overall, still making modest advances, honoring the physical, emotional and psychic needs to repose, reflect and regroup. The other intrinsic SS433 cycle runs 13.1 days, subdividing into 6.55 day intervals, roughly a week. So use the week-on/week-off approach of applying personal energy with an apparent 3:1 ratio. If one week you can schedule 30 meetings, the next week schedule ten and use available time to process the meetings of the previous week and smoothly integrate them into present tense outcomes.

So, if you want to go whole hog, do so with dogged determination.

Keep an eye on the longer term marker: December 2020.

Think consequentially.

Discard nothing useful.

Alter, edit, improve what is outdated or non-contributing.

Recycle that which cannot be redeemed.

Avoid the revolting part of revolution.

Believe that an individual does influence the collective.

Hold the banners of soulful causes high.

Work for 2020 vision whether real or symbolic.
